On Tuesday October the 9th we went to chester war museum. At 9:15 we got on the bus and started heading to the war museum. When we got there we sat down at a table and put stuff away. Then we meet Simon and Alex they were going to show us around the war museum.
We got split up into groups and we were with Alex and Mrs. Rowe. We went to the room next to it then talked about WWII and learned about all the different gas masks. There was a child one called mickey mouse Alex told us about the child one and why it was colorful. It was colorful because the children were more amused. The adult gas mask was black and was very old. Then we saw the baby gas mask it was like an astronaut suit so the baby goes inside and the mum pumps the bad gas out and the good oxygen in . Then he showed us the Morrison shelter and the Anderson shelter, we didn't get to go in the Anderson shelter but everyone got to go in the Morrison shelter.
After that we went to the gallery and saw lots of soldier mannequins and a horse. Also we got to try on aWWll jacket that was made out of wool with medals all on their shoulders. Then we looked at the food and how it had to be stored in cans and packets and all the water had to be emptied and the soldiers had to get fresh water themselves so it not so heavy when they ship the food. Next we put out an incendiary bomb to put it out we first used water to make the bomb (not on fire) then we added sand so it's not so hot then we scoop the bomb up and hoe to get the bomb and once we got the bomb we put it in a container of sand.
Afterwards we had dinner. Once we had dinner we looked at evacuation and looked at an evacuees suitcase. In it was an egg sandwich , a yoyo, toothbrush ,comb ,underwear, 2 sets of pjs , clothes , shoes, soap, pants, t-shirt, flannel, towel, vest, tag with details about them. We also made a little tank out of cotton wheel , a wooden stick, an elastic band and a matchstick
Then we went to the medal room and seen over 1000 medals that had been DONATED! There were big medals and really small ones and some normal plus some were gold and some silver also there were bronze medals and every medal was different.
Then we came back up to where we put stuff and said goodbye to Alex and Simon and just before we went we went outside to where we lit out the bomb and took a class photo to replace the year six’s old photo .
Then we walked down to the bus and went back to school and went home.
